Southern Connection: Innovation Clusters in Mexico and the Bridge to Silicon Valley

Wednesday, June 16, 2021 - 13:00

The Bay Area Council Economic Institute and the U.S.-Mexico Foundation (USMF) are pleased to invite you to the launch of the Economic Institute’s new report “Southern Connection: Innovation Clusters in Mexico and the Bridge to Silicon Valley”.

During the event Enrique Perret (Director, USMF) and Sean Randolph (Senior Director, Bay Area Council Economic Institute) will present the report’s key findings, followed by a conversation between regional and industry experts from both countries. To conclude the program, our research partners from Endeavor and Fundación Idea in Mexico will comment on the importance of this effort and directions for the future.

Mexico’s technological capacity is growing, building on a strong base of engineers and a first generation of successful startups. This, and proximity to the United States as supply chains realign, is creating new opportunities for companies and investors in the San Francisco/Silicon Valley Bay Area. The report assesses trends in Mexico’s economy, patterns of venture investment, states and cities in Mexico where technology and startup activity is concentrated, how that activity is uniquely connected to Silicon Valley, and opportunities for the future. We hope you can join us for this important conversation.
