The Philippine Institute for Development Studies

The Philippine Institute for Development Studies (PIDS) is the Philippine government’s main socioeconomic think tank.  Since its establishment in 1977, it has been engaged in the conduct of policy-oriented studies to assist policymakers and planners in crafting evidence-based development policies, plans, and programs. PIDS has completed numerous policy studies that encompass a wide range of development topics, including trade, innovation, public finance, governance, housing, labor, education, health, poverty, and agriculture. The Institute has made a significant contribution and influence on Philippine development policy through its active and close collaboration with government agencies, academic and research institutions, and international organizations.  Its various research outputs are widely disseminated through publications, conferences, seminars, knowledge databases, and Web-based applications.

PIDS is ranked as one of the best think tanks in the world in the annual Global Go To Think Tank Report published by the Think Tanks and Civil Societies Program of the University of Pennsylvania.
