5G networks are fast becoming the benchmark for mobile technology and a basic pillar for the digital transformation of countries. The possibility of increasing speed, maximizing connectivity and improving the service provided, not only brings the evolution of infrastructure and telecommunications networks. But the possibility of developing an entire ecosystem of 5G platforms, services and content through innovation and entrepreneurship.
According to the report presented by the GSA, 47 countries already have 5G networks and 129 are making investments in the adoption of this technology, in the form of tests, trials, pilots and implementations. In fact, it is expected that by 2023 the number of users of this network will reach one billion, that is, in a period of 3.5 years, a record figure, compared to the 4 years it took for 4G and 12 years for 3G.
North America, Europe and East Asia are at the forefront of implementing this technology. South Korea, the country that implemented the first national network in 2019, expects that by 2025 the penetration of the 5G network will be such that more than 60% of internet subscriptions will be through it.
